Online Safety Seminar Offered by Cohen Hillel Academy
MARBLEHEAD — On Thursday, April 10, at 7 pm, Cohen Hillel Academy is sponsoring an important and timely seminar for parents of children and teens devoted to the use and impact of technology on child and adolescent development and staying safe in a wireless world.
The evening, open to the community at no cost, features Marje Monroe, M.S.W., and Doug Fodeman, co-founders of Children Online, a company founded in 1997 devoted to the safety of children and teens online.
Monroe and Fodeman have worked with thousands of students and parents, providing developmentally tailored presentations on the rapidly changing topic of children, teens and technology use. Children Online is a national leader in offering workable and real-life guidelines and strategies to keep parents and children feeling empowered and safe on their computers, iPhones, iPads, and other mobile devices.
Cohen Hillel Academy Head of School Noah Hartman stressed that "Whether we want to believe it or not, our children are using social media. As parents and educators, we just need to make sure they're enjoying it safely and responsibly."
There is no cost to attend, but RSVPs are requested as space is limited. To RSVP, or for more information about the K-8 community day school, please call 781.639.2880 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

My most recent story, about an 111-year-old man, Alexander Imich (oldest in America, second oldest living man in the world) was published by The Jewish Press on February 28, 2014. Two days after the story hit the newsstands, Dr. Imich received new replacement hearing aids and round the clock home attendants to insure his recovery. So many people read the story and decided, in the spirit of kindness and friendship, to visit Dr. Imich, that visiting hours had to be set! -- Beth Sarafraz
