InterfaithFamily Founder Ed Case and CJP President Barry Shrage will be honored at InterfaithFamily’s #ChooseLove 2015 Celebration on Thursday October 22, at Hebrew College, 160 Herrick Rd., Newton Center. Both leaders will be honored for their leadership in engaging interfaith families in Jewish life and community at a reception from 6-9 p.m.
From 4-6 p.m., community leaders are invited to an interactive discussion with distinguished thought leaders who will offer their perspectives on their visions, perceived challenges and priorities for interfaith family engagement in Jewish life and community.
Speakers include Rabbi David Ellenson, Chancellor of Hebrew Union College; Rabbi Wes Gardenswartz of Newton’s Temple Emanuel, who announced last spring that he wanted to officiate at weddings of interfaith couples; Rabbi Joy Levitt, executive director of JCC Manhattan; and Sheila Katz, Vice President for Social Entrepreneurship responsible for Hillel International’s new interfaith engagement programming.
The goal for the conversation is to bring together thought leaders, clergy and other professionals, and lay leaders to consider forward-thinking approaches and learn about and discuss practical ideas and new tools to effectively engage interfaith families Jewishly.
