If you can tell something about an artist by the vocations of his parents, singer/songwriter Ari Hest has a solid background in his chosen field: his father is a college music professor (and former jingle composer) and his mother is a cantor. Raised in a home that was filled with song, music theory, and the occasional spiritual conversation seems to have shaped Ari’s artistry in ways that deeply influence his songwriting and singing.
Ari Hest will be performing his unique songs at CinemaSalem on Thursday, April 14, at 8:30 p.m., as part of the movie theater’s new Thursday night series of live performances, which will also include live theater and comedy.
Since graduating from New York University, Ari has been touring. At the age of 23, he signed to a record deal on Columbia Records and has released 10 additional albums, some on major labels and some as an independent artist.
Tickets are available at CinemaSalem.com and at the box office of the theater located at One East India Square in Salem.
