Temple Emanuel Hosts Cardinal Seán O’Malley

Published March 17, 2016, issue of March 17, 2016.

Cardinal O’Malley marked the 50th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the 1965 document that revolutionized Catholic-Jewish relations. For the first time in history, Nostra Aetate made clear that the Catholic Church rejects any form of anti-Semitism and called for Catholics and Jews to engage in friendly dialogue and discussions to better understand each other’s faiths. Over 700 members of the Boston Jewish community and American Jewish Committee (AJC) Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations Rabbi Noam Marans and Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Director of Interfaith Affairs, Rabbi David Sandmel attended the event on March 10 at Temple Emanuel in Newton.
