Shirley “Lee” (Scherzer) Rodman

Shirley “Lee” (Scherzer) Rodman, 91, of Danvers, formerly of Fall River, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the Hathorne Hill Rehabilitation Center in Danvers. She was the wife of the late Stanley J. Rodman.

Lee was born on Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena (Miller) Scherzer. Lee graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Middle Village, Queens, N.Y. Lee worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Rodman Furniture Store in Taunton. She also worked as a fashion consultant at Fifth Avenue in Cranston, R.I., Dorothy Williams in Providence, R.I., and Braham Handbags in North Dartmouth.

She was a former member of Temple Beth El in Fall River. Lee was an avid bridge player and was a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League for many years.

Survivors are her daughter Leslie D. Bateman and her husband John of Beverly; her grandson Max Shaffer and his fiancee Lisa Johnson of Peabody; her sister Sylvia Glass of Little Neck, Long Island, N.Y.; her niece Karen San George of Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; her nephew David Glass of Little Neck, Long Island, N.Y. She was the sister-in-law of the late Max Glass.

A graveside service for Lee will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 1 p.m., in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, R.I. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Shiva will be held from Tuesday thru Friday from 6-8 p.m., at her daughter’s home, Centerville Woods, 393 Essex Street, Apt. 302, Beverly, MA 01915.
