Journal Hits the Reset Button

Published June 30, 2016, issue of June 30, 2016.

The Board of Overseers has become concerned by some of the content and opinion pieces appearing over the past several months in this newspaper – opinions which have also generated discontent and in some cases outrage from the community we serve. And it has acted decisively.

The questionable content that many of you brought to our attention was largely written by, or curated by, our publisher.

In order to regain equilibrium and set a path towards becoming the best Jewish community newspaper we can be, the Board has created a firewall, separating the roles of the Publisher and the Editor. This will help to eliminate any confusion and starting with this issue all editorial content is the sole responsibility of The Editor, writers reporting to the editor, with the editor reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

With this significant structural realignment, the Board has placed in me the confidence that I will deliver a more peaceful and harmonious tone. It extends its thanks to all Jewish Journal readers and advertisers as we strive to find the optimal balance to meet and surpass the expectations you have of us.
